The Hypocrisy of Cancel Culture

There is a new phenomenon that is taking place in our nation known as “cancel culture.” It seems that the point of this type of thinking is to remove or “cancel” any person or business that does not line up with one’s values.  This is a tactic by those on the far left to eliminate anyone or anything that seems to hint at any form of conservatism.  If I don’t like what someone says then I can just smear them and ruin them on social media.

The problem with this, of course, is the inherent dishonesty within this type of thinking.  They claim that they want to have a “conversation” about things going on in the country,  but this specific group of people is not interested in having a conversation or debate.  They simply want to remove anything in the world that doesn’t look, act, or think like them.  In order to make this happen they don’t just seek to destroy the person’s interests, but rather the person himself.  It isn’t about stating an opinion, but rather about destroying anyone who doesn’t agree with their opinion.

If you don’t agree with the Black Lives Matter organization, then you are a racist.  If you don’t agree with homosexuality or transgenders then you are a bigot.  If you don’t see eye to eye with the cancel culture on every single thing then you deserve to be cancelled.  It is political correctness taken to an extreme that we have never seen before, and it is complete hypocrisy.

Why do I say its hypocrisy?  Well because the cancel culture claims to desire tolerance, and more hypocritical than that, they claim they are tolerant.  There are very few things that are more intolerant than smearing a person or business because they do not agree with you.  That is the exact definition of intolerance!  When America ceases to be a country where someone can voice their opinion without being “cancelled” by radicals, then it ceases to be the country that it is supposed to be.

The problem is that there is no reasoning with this type of thinking.  If you give in to it then cancel culture just becomes worse.  The line of acceptance will continue to get pushed back until there is no more line.  You will end up with a country that doesn’t have any morals or values.  If you push back against it with logic then you are simply labeled a bigot, and the radicals will be after you for blood.

I believe in tolerance very strongly.  I believe that valid opinions should be heard without being disparaged, mocked, or ridiculed.  It is of the utmost importance that we learn to listen to each other, and learn about one another, even if we disagree.  I think it is absolutely incorrect to cancel or destroy someone based on what they believe or hold dear.  No one should have to fear for their life or their interests because they dare to have an opinion that opposes the opinion of someone else.

With that being said, I also believe in truth.  I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that God created 2 genders.  I believe that all lives matter, because every single person is important to their Creator.  I believe that the only way forward is to turn to Jesus Christ and allow him to solve the sin problem in our lives.  This world will not move forward until it acknowledges its need for a Savior.  Period.

Cancel culture is an immature and hypocritical response.  More than that, it often doesn’t work.  The far left fought to boycott Chick Fil A due to its Christian and conservative values, and the company has continued to do great business.  They are seeking to destroy Goya because the founder dared to make positive remarks about President Trump.  That
“cancel” also seems to be failing.  The far left seems incapable of realizing that it is in the definite minority.

In conclusion, I do not want to be offensive to any liberal who may read this post.  Please understand that I do not believe that all liberals think the same way.  I know that there are liberals who are disgusted with the actions of this cancel culture.  My hope is that there can be real discussion about the problems in our country, instead of an immature response by certain people against those who do not think like they do.
